While the arrival of a vidya i.e. an ancient science into our lives can be considered auspicious. However, I was pondering – why now? Why astrology?
It is true that since 2024, life felt different, a little haywire. And strongly influenced by Shani Maharaj. But I attributed it to the fact that everyone was saying, “2024 is the year of Shani”. I didn’t bother going further into it and checking whether I was facing any other Shani – related influence.
Fast forward to now, I finally, came across PV Narasimha Rao’s website with free resources to learn Vedic astrology. It felt right, so I downloaded his book right away and read all through it. It was a fascinating study and one that I was able to grasp reasonably well.
These ancient sciences are considered more than a dump of information. I like to consider them as energy transmissions. In the lore, they are personified as devtas. Definitely not simply a lifeless dump of info. Thus, seeing how I was grasping this science. Getting more relevant resources to further my learnings. It seemed I was blessed with this vidya.
I pondered – why? Why now? Why Astrology?
Bowing Down
Today, as I was reading the latter half of the book, “Greatness of Saturn” by Robert Svoboda (same author of the Aghora trilogy), it came to me,
Let me now not be arrogant towards planetary deities. Why not bow down to them?
You see,
I felt astrology was a lowly science. Something that people without the sense and intelligence to live their life would keep falling onto. Also, it felt wrong to me that instead of doing the sensible and rational things towards solving their life problems, someone would rather propitiate planets!
Moreover, this thinking is empowered by the lack of true depth and expertise of the astrological content easily available. Compared to other ancient vidyas like Ayurveda, Kalaripayattu etc.. – I feel astrology is one of the most maligned and taken over by commercial forces. There are pop culture-type website and youtube videos all over the place.
So, it is a natural consequence for me and many other urban Bharatiya folks to carry disdain towards astrology.
Howeover, as I was reading Robert Svoboda’s book…
I became aware of this disdain within myself. And so, I dropped it (to some extent). Anyway, in the past 2+ years – Shani Maharaj has very well shown his influence. Thus, it is clear to me that this is a significant influence.
I don’t know if all my disdain and arrogance towards this science is gone. But I am reasonably well aligned with this Vidya now. And I bow down with deeper respect to all the nine graha influences and also other astrological forces.
Let’s see where further my tryst with this Vidya takes me… Jai Shiv Shambho!
