Beholding the Deity: Why We Don’t Make Wishes in Temples…

Beholding the deity.. Sadhguru Quote

Earlier, I had written one blog post as part of a series about Mistakes people make in Temples… it was about making wishes in temples. (Read here: https://inspirituality.in/mistake-3-make-a-wish-in-the-temple/) For a lot of people, their visit to temples, especially the renowned, supposedly more powerful ones is to make some wish or wishes.

I had provided a fairly long example of Vivekananda to highlight my case, why intentionally going into temple spaces and making wishes (especially petty wishes) is a mistake in the temple.

Recently, came across Sadhguru’s article on Darshan… and he has addressed this beautifully. Please read…

“Unfortunately, inspired by other religions, people have started praying in temples too. Telling the Creator what He should do is the most idiotic thing. None of us has the intelligence to create even a blade of grass. Then who are we to give daily advice to the one who created such a phenomenal existence? You only behold – you do not ask your divine entity for anything. You are not willing to settle for anything less than the best – you want Him. You do not want anything less than becoming divine, so you want to take an imprint of the Divine within yourself.” Sadhguru (Source)
