A Seemingly Random Triad, So Magical: Ayurveda, Agni, Aghora

When life becomes spiritual it will seem magical. Something like that happened with a magical triad in my life in this lockdown 🙂

This International Yoga Day of 2020, I explored an “Akhand Diya“. I planned to try to establish an unceasing diya for a few weeks to get an idea of it. As it happened, it is still ON 2 months later.

These were the days of semi-lockdown. As many others in these days, I decided to enroll in an online course. Ayurveda Foundation from Kaivalyadhama. I had this course in mind for a while, in these days I got the opportunity to do it.

During the same time, on a casual stroll in my area, I came across a bookstore in my neighbourhood that I hadn’t seen before. As I meandered in it, I chanced upon the Aghora Book 2.

I had read the Aghora 1 book earlier and was hoping to read the second book. I didn’t want to order online. I was waiting for it come in my path as the first book had come. Well, now it had come in my path.

For a few days, the book remained in the quarantine corner. Then I started reading it.

Interestingly, the beginning of the book was about “Fire”.

“You can make spiritual progress by worshipping any of the 5 elements, but I think it is best to worship the Fire Element.Worshipping Earth may take you eons, because the chief characteristic of Earth is stability. Worship of Water is unwise nowadays because Water is the main substance which makes up the body, and most of us identify too strongly with our bodies anyway. Worshipping Air is likely to make you seriously unstable and there are difficulties in worshipping the Ether Element also. I think Fire is best.”

(from Chapter 1, Aghora 2)

I had an Akhand Diya newly started at that time. It brought the whole matter into a different perspective for me. I observed the flame a bit more closely. I tended to the flame a bit more deeply than I would have otherwise.

Moreover, in this book, the author Robert Svoboda goes into his history. He was an Ayurveda student and that’s how he meets Vimalananda, the Aghori. There are many mentions of Ayurveda education in the book. And I had that Ayurveda course going on!

It was amazing that the two seemingly unconnected events – Akhand Diya and Ayurveda course – seemed to become a magical triad with this Aghora book in place.

Usual life was going on and all of a sudden something magical happens.

Paraphrasing Sadhguru,

When spirituality starts happening, life will seem magical.

Can’t find this specific quote online, I had heard it in a sathsang.

So magical triads and other magical occurrences. Welcome. 😀
