Purush, Prakriti & Stri?

Has gender bias creeped into Indic language around how we address women? I am not sure... this was something I was pondering on...

Today morning spark,

as I was listening to someone talk about Purush – Prakriti,

I realised that this premordial soup from which all existence began,

came so much earlier.

Way before all this male-female drama on the planet specifically in the human society.

The chronology of this duality dance,

First there was an Ishwara or ONE. No duality.

Then there were two – stirring Prakriti, and still Purusha/Shiva.

This duality manifested in many forms. Feminine and masculine energies and processes that allowed reproduction.

Much later gender duality of life forms. Female – male.

(The word ‘female’ originates from femina. While ‘male’ originates from mas. They are not etymologically linked)

Later developed the gender discrimination and other complex dynamics of the two.

This same complex dynamics, which makes me question,

Why is male referred to as ‘Purusha’ in sanskrit, which also means something so aspirational as soul / premordial masculine? While women aren’t referred to as ‘Prakriti’? Women are referred to as ‘Stri’ which means female of a species or some such literal explanation from what I can find, nothing aspirational.

While ‘female’ and ‘male’ are not etymologically linked,

the word ‘women’ comes straight from ‘wife-man’.

Purusha – Prakriti – Stri i.e. Purusha – Prakriti with her shadow of Stri – the supposedly less important counterpart of the male.
