Since I created a self-travel yatra pack for Haridwar, it was natural for me to put together something for Rishikesh. Though my experience of these two cities is fairly different and so shall be the two yatra packs.
One of the salient aspects of Rishikesh is the mingling of two fairly different cultural streams – the ancient spiritual traditions of Bharat and the influx of modern forms of this experience. From the powerful samadhi shrine of Sivananda and burning ghats on Ganga to the more hippie-vibed workshops and kirtans; my yatra pack looks at providing you with a trail that covers both and something more.
“something more”, you ask?
There is a walking trail, right in the heart of Rishikesh that allows you to focus on the serene flow of Ganga and the undulating Shivalik hills surrounding it. It meanders past ancient temples, resorts, and ashrams. On this trail, you may choose to absorb the natural scenes, do your sadhana practice, watch the hustle bustle of rituals and local activities, or explore the spots. It is up to you.
My yatra pack is not only an itinerary. It is a deep dive into the place. Highlighting stories, significant aspects and most importantly – providing you with a context to intensify your sadhana.
Rishikesh self-travel yatra pack, coming up soon!
